Paint Booth Filters Explained

Paint booths use two main filters: intake (ceiling) filters that deliver clean, diffused air over the work, and exhaust arrestor pads that capture paint overspray before it reaches the fan and atmosphere. Choosing the right arrestor efficiency protects equipment, ensures finish quality, and supports emissions compliance.

Intake (ceiling) filters

Ceiling filters provide the final cleaning of supply air entering a downdraft or semi-downdraft booth. They must remove fine particles that would otherwise create defects in the finish while maintaining even, low-turbulence airflow across the booth.

Exhaust / overspray arrestor pads

Exhaust arrestors capture paint solids (overspray) so they do not coat the fan, ductwork, and stack. Progressive-density fiberglass and polyester pads load gradually for long life and high holding capacity. Replacing them on schedule keeps booth airflow balanced and protects the exhaust system.
